Will an “Unknown Part” message appear after cell replacement?

Whether a parts message appears depends on the flex-circuit type and iOS version.

Using the original flex circuit

When inspection confirms that the original flex circuit is suitable for continued use, the system continues to recognise the original battery identity. The cell replacement does not add a new parts pop-up, and battery health remains available. In terms of system parts recognition and information display, it remains the same as when the flex circuit has not been replaced.

Using a reclaimed or genuine zero-cycle flex circuit

iOS 18.1 and later

Settings displays “Unverified Part”, while battery health remains available. This message only identifies the system’s parts-verification status; the message itself does not indicate a runtime or device-function fault.

Versions below iOS 18.1

A parts pop-up usually appears once after the phone restarts and disappears automatically after about 30 minutes. Settings displays “Unknown Part”, and battery health cannot be viewed directly in iOS. The system message itself does not indicate reduced actual runtime.

If you need to check battery health, you can use Aisi Assistant (3uTools) or iOS 16 with a Shortcut, depending on the device and system. We can also provide the relevant instructions.

Removing the restart pop-up

If you prefer not to see the restart pop-up and the device supports it, you can update the system to iOS 18.1 or later. After the update, the restart pop-up no longer appears; Settings retains the “Unverified Part” message and battery health remains available. We recommend backing up important data before updating the system.
